Meprolight Foresight Red Dot – New for 2020

Meprolight Foresight Red Dot – New for 2020

New from Meprolight is the Mepro Foresight red dot which is packed with technologically advanced features, a rechargeable battery and QD mounts.

Poking about SHOT Show this year it was interesting to see how technology has continually made in-roads into all manner of shooting accessories. A prime example is Meprolight’s new Mepro Foresight red dot sight. While at first glance it appears to be just an ordinary red dot sight, it is not. Meprolight has packed it with a host of modern features to aid the rifleman’s quest of putting rounds on target. Meprolight describes it as, “The first augmented red dot sight, projecting real-time data to the user’s FOV (Field of View).” It does this, and quite a bit more.

The Mepro Foresight displays real time data, such as compass bearing, shot counter and rifle leveler, in the FOV.

Let’s jump right into the features offered in the Foresight. These include an internal compass, battery level indicator, five pre-set tactical reticles (which can be changed/ programmed according to the user’s preferences), and an integrated light sensor that automatically determines reticle brightness. If you do not like the five pre-set reticles, the Foresight features Bluetooth connectivity allowing you to connect it to your smart phone and select a different reticle design from their large database. It also allows you to update the sight when new features become available, such as their Shot Counter feature.

But wait! There is more! The Foresight features an Automatic Digital Zeroing feature where you do not even have to touch the optic. You simply fire a multi-shot group, take a photo of your group using the app and the system analyzes your Mean Point of Impact and zeros the optic. Now that is something. Plus, real-time data is projected into the optic’s field of view to assist the rifleman with making hits. Some of the information displayed in the FOV includes a battery life gauge, leveler to prevent cant, Bluetooth connection, compass heading and it has the ability to even display a shot counter so you know exactly how many rounds you have left.

Controls are located within easy reach on the top of the device so they are not blocked if a magnifier or night vision device is mounted behind the sight.

Power is provided by a rechargeable battery. This is charged using a common USB-C cable and the sight incorporates a power saving feature. The display window is a large 33x20mm and the sight is 4.6″ x 2.35″ x 2.68″ in dimension. Weight is 9.9 ounces and it comes with QD mounts. All in all a very interesting looking design with a lot of innovative features. I look forward to doing a full review in the pages of Firearms News.
